Calling All New Jersey Maintenance Professionals to Compete in Maintenance Mania 2011
February 2, 2011
On Wednesday, March 16th, New Jersey’s multi-family
maintenance technicians will square off for the chance to become New
Jersey Apartment Association’s Maintenance Mania New Jersey Champion in
the ultimate maintenance showdown! The champion will also win the
chance to represent New Jersey and the Northeast at the National
Apartment Association’s (NAA) Maintenance Mania competition, held during
their 2011 Education Conference in Las Vegas later this year.
Hosted
by the New Jersey Apartment Association (NJAA) and presented by HD
Supply, the competition will be held at the Crowne Plaza in Monroe
Township at 2:30 PM. The champion for two years running, David Berryman
from Kamson Corporation, headquartered in Englewood Cliffs, NJ,
completed all seven maintenance skill-based games plus the car race in
an impressive 2 minutes and 52.992 seconds at the 2010 competition.
“Maintenance
Mania offers New Jersey maintenance professionals the chance to
demonstrate our skill sets,” said Mr. Berryman. “It was a thrill to win
the title two years in a row, and to represent New Jersey and the
Northeast in New Orleans at the national competition. I wish all this
year’s competitors the best of luck.”
This year’s
competition will consist of seven maintenance skill based games.
Contestants will be required to build a race car from maintenance
products ahead of the event to race it down a 32' long track for the
eighth and final event. The games will include Armor Concepts Door Jamb
Armor Installation, Fluidmaster Toilet Repair, GE Appliance Repair,
Kidde Fire & Carbon Monoxide Safety Installation, Kwikset Key
Control Deadbolt Test, Price Pfister Faucet Repair, Seasons Ceiling Fan
Installation, and the Philips Race Car Competition.
The
car-check-in time will open at 1:30PM, followed by practice time from
1:30-2:15PM, and the competition will start at 2:30PM. An Awards
reception will follow at 5PM.
NJAA secured a record attendance
for competitors last year, so please don’t wait to register. Member
registration for the competition and cocktail reception is $80;
non-members $100. Spectators are welcome to attend the event. Tickets
are $45 per person before March 4 and $60 per person after March 4.
