Controller - Real Estate

Ajax Management is a growing real estate development, construction and property management company based in Trenton. We are looking for an enthusiastic, hard working candidate to become the Controller for the company’s real estate portfolio.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
• Oversee the processing of all accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Manage operational, general ledger, and general accounting department
• Prepare bank reconciliations for all entities
• Ensure that operational and design effectiveness of internal controls over financial reporting is maintained
• Preparation of all monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
• Ensure that all filing deadlines are met and all reporting requirements are fulfilled
• Coordinate the preparation of annual tax filings and be the point person for all year-end audits and tax returns
• Prepare monthly forecasts and operational reports
• Coordinate the recording and collection of all property management, construction and development fees
• Verify, review, and analyze property and entity-level general ledgers on both cash and accrual basis ensuring accuracy and adherence to policies
• Interact with other accounting team members to ensure prompt resolution of issues and achieve maximum efficiency of operations

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in accounting, CPA preferred
• At least 3 years experience with Yardi and Quickbooks
• At least 5 years experience in financial management in real estate
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, accounting and financial reporting principles
• Ability to maintain data integrity and accuracy and use data to identify and solve problems
• Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple tasks
• Comprehensive understanding of internal controls
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a team-player mentality
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to be self-motivated and work independently with minimal supervision.
